Is Lindisfarne Hall right for your child?

1. Are you looking for a Christian school?

Lindisfarne Hall is an intentionally orthodox, traditional, and biblical Christian school.  Our program of education pursues not only the intellectual, but also the moral and spiritual development of our students.  To that end, the worship and doctrine of historic, ancient Christianity suffuses and informs the entirety of school life—our daily common prayer in the chapel, the songs we sing in choir, the shape of our academic calendar, and the whole of our curriculum.

2. Does your child love to read? Is he/she enthusiastic about learning?

Our approach to elementary education prioritizes the attainment of literary fluency, because good literature remains the surest doorway of imagination and the most reliable stimulus of curiosity which leads a child on to the pursuit of that which is eternally valuable—Truth, Goodness, and Beauty.  Our program is dedicated to cultivating literacy in our elementary students.  If your older child (6th grade and up) does not enjoy reading and/or struggles with comprehension, Lindisfarne Hall may not be a good fit.

3. Is your child kind-hearted and friendly?

Our goal is to foster an attitude of familial charity, respect, and kindness throughout the entire student body.  Lindisfarne Hall is not a “reform school,” and we discourage applicants who have a history of behavioral difficulties (i.e., bullying, physical violence, sullenness, etc.).

4. Is your child excited about the idea of attending Lindisfarne Hall?

The single greatest predictor of a student’s success at Lindisfarne Hall is desire.  Our academic program, student life, and spirituality are unique—unlike any other school in north Florida.  Obviously, we think that  we are the best school around!  However, we understand that education is not a “one size fits all” endeavor.  Our program only works for those students who embrace our distinctives with enthusiasm, and is not suited for those who feel “forced.”  A school is not a prison.

5. Do you want your child to have teachers who are good role-models?

At Lindisfarne Hall we understand that oftentimes “the teacher is the curriculum”. We know that students not only learn from what we say, but also from how we act. Lindisfarne Hall teachers take the responsibility of being good role-models seriously.

6. Does your child have a learning disability?

Our program, while joyful and inspiring, is also rigorous. Over the years, we’ve found that children with learning disabilities often struggle in their efforts to meet our academic requirements and then become anxious and stressed. In order to avoid causing unnecessary frustration or strain in a child, we only accept students if we think they can reasonably work through our academic program without outside support.
